We are partnering with a high-growth, private equity-backed SaaS company seeking a Controller to join its finance leadership team. The organization operates in a recurring revenue software environment, serves a highly specialized professional services market, and is experiencing strong year-over-year growth.With a well-established product offering, strong customer retention, and a clear growth trajectory, the company is entering an exciting phase of scale and operational maturity. This position offers the opportunity to play a significant role in strengthening financial operations, developing talent, and helping prepare the organization for its next stage of growth.Position SummaryThe Controller will serve as a key member of the finance organization, partnering closely with the CFO and cross-functional leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting, scalable processes, and operational excellence.This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys balancing day-to-day accounting responsibilities with strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will lead the accounting function, oversee financial reporting and revenue accounting, mentor a growing team, and drive process improvements that support continued business growth.This is a highly visible position that requires both strong technical accounting skills and the ability to operate as a collaborative business partner across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Financial Leadership• Lead all aspects of the accounting function, including general ledger, revenue accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting.• Own and continuously improve the monthly close process, maintaining timely and accurate financial reporting.• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including ASC 606 revenue recognition.• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.• Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.Revenue Accounting & SaaS Operations• Develop a strong understanding of recurring revenue business models and key SaaS performance metrics.• Partner with revenue-focused teams to ensure accuracy of revenue reporting and forecasting inputs.• Monitor and support accounting processes related to subscriptions, renewals, retention, and recurring revenue streams.• Provide financial insights that support strategic growth initiatives.Business Partnership• Collaborate closely with Finance, FP&A, Revenue Operations, and senior leadership teams.• Translate financial information into actionable business insights.• Support strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and operational decision-making.• Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership by providing financial analysis and recommendations.Systems & Process Improvement• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability across accounting operations.• Optimize utilization of existing ERP and business systems.• Enhance reporting capabilities and streamline workflows.• Support system enhancements and process improvements that strengthen the finance function.Team Leadership & Development• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.• Create opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility within the team.• Establish accountability, performance expectations, and development plans.• Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on continuous improvement.Qualifications:Required• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.• Progressive accounting leadership experience within a SaaS or recurring revenue business model.• Strong understanding of financial reporting, month-end close, audit management, and revenue recognition.• Experience managing and developing accounting professionals.• Ability to partner effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Preferred• Experience in private equity-backed organizations.• Experience supporting businesses in the $30M-$100M revenue range.• CPA certification preferred but not required.• Working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition.• Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, or similar ERP and CRM platforms.• Experience improving processes, implementing automation, and supporting organizational scale.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys building and improving rather than simply maintaining.
